Overview of Department:

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a specialized unit in the College that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions affecting the face, jaws, mouth, and neck. The department combines expertise from both dentistry and medicine to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex oral and facial issues. The department is staffed with skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeons who have undergone extensive training in both dental and medical disciplines. The primary objective of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is to improve the oral and facial health of patients through various surgical procedures and treatments. These may include the management of facial trauma, TMJ procedures, cosmetic corrections, treatment of oral and facial infections, exodontia and the surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth. In addition to reconstructive procedures, the department also offers treatments for oral pathologies such as cysts and tumors. The department is often involved in collaboration with other dental and medical specialties, including orthodontics, prosthodontics, and otolaryngology (ENT), to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients with complex cases. The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery plays a critical role in education and research as well. Encouraging students to learn and explore the field of Surgery.
